What we fix most often
Rotted or leaning posts
Posts replaced and set in concrete, with the fence sections reattached.
Broken boards and rails
Damaged boards and rails replaced to match.
Sagging gates
New hinges, bracing or a new hinge post.
Storm damage
Sections blown down by wind or hit by falling branches rebuilt.
Fence post replacement cost
Replacing a wood post set in concrete runs about $250 to $500 per post, installed, before HST. Where the boards and rails are still good, new posts are often all a fence needs.

- Old post and its concrete broken out and hauled away
- New post set in fresh concrete, plumb and in line
- Rails and boards fastened back to the new post
- Where concrete runs right up to the fence line, the post can sit on a steel base bolted to the slab
Price range checked October 2026. It moves with how much old concrete has to come out and how tight the access is. Your quote is based on photos or a site visit.
How we decide
- Most posts solid and a few failing: repair
- Boards in good shape but posts rotting: repair if it's a few, replace if it's most
- Fence well past its life and leaning in many places: replace
- Posts that look sound above ground can be gone at the base, so we dig and check before we quote
- Shared fence: we can quote both sides so neighbours see the same numbers
