Clarington allows a rear yard fence up to 2.1 m, taller than almost anywhere else in the GTA, and measures from the lowest grade beside the fence with lattice counted in the total. Ajax rewrote its fence bylaw in 2025 and requires pool fences at 1.5 m, higher than several neighbours. On the rural lots north of the 407 the constraint is usually grade and length rather than height.
